How to Participate

One of the Goals* at Bwaliro Primary School is:
  • To encourage the AIDS orphans and destitute children in the community to come to school regularly and achieve basic primary school education.

(* To see all the goals set out for Bwaliro Primary School, please click here to read the contract)

In July 2014, Bwaliro won several awards at both the Butula Sub-County (64 schools) and Busia County (about 250 Schools) levels.
These awards included:

  • Top school in science (Sub-County and County levels)
  • Top primary day school (Sub-County)
  • Top primary school with under 50 grade 8 candidates (Sub-County)
  • Third in Christian Religious Education (Sub-County)
  • Third in Math (Sub-County)

We are especially proud of the first two awards - Top school in science out of approximately 250 schools,
and top primary day school out of 64 schools.

This takes Bwaliro well beyond the original goal of achieving "basic primary school education".
And it continues the Bwaliro tradition of high academic standards.
(In 2013, they won the trophy for being top school in Kenya with less than 50 candidates writing the national exams.

for more details of the 2013 award).

Principal Augustine says it is all because of the COB projects, with the permaculture and lunch program enabling students to attend school, and work on their studies, instead of staying home and trying to gather enough food to eat.
